12,500 GOLD WITH BASTION OF TWILIGHT

Do you have a level 90, decent gear, and know how to play your class? Good! Then read on and let's make over TEN THOUSAND gold per hour in Bastion of Twilight, the level 85 Cataclysm raid.

This method has actually been around for a while, and is known as BoE farming, but with the new change where you can run 10 instances in an hour, this run is particularly profitable. While most dungeons take more about 10 minutes to clear once you run back to the entrance, this one is just one room and is a very quick in-an-out so you can kill everything and reset it all to get the full 10 runs. As far as strategy goes, we're going to go to Twilight Highlands, enter the raid, and just clear the first room of mobs and hope that we get some good epic drops (and a boatload of Embersilk Cloth). The cheaper items like the trinkets sell for around 500 and more expensive transmog items sell for 2500g on most servers because they're amazing and no one really goes out here much anymore. Oh, and sometimes level 85s use these for their stats.

For my test I ran the dungeon for a full hour. The room consists of 48 total mobs: 4 stationary up front, two lines of 5 patrolling mobs, and four rings of 8 rogue-caster...things. They all have between 400k and 1.5 million health and melee for about 15-30k so they're not too bad but if you pull the whole room, just be ready. I recommend killing one group at a time. Even slow and steady, a pack at a time, one run is over in 4 minutes. Oh, and there are two mobs in the hallway that have a double chance of dropping epics. Kill those before you leave.

Dat Second Wind
Over the course of one hour I was able to clear the room 8 times. Since I was testing several different pulling strategies and died (embarrassingly) about 20 times in the process, I see no reason why you couldn't make 10 runs. Still, a test is a test so we'll stick with my results and I won't extrapolate. I gathered 5 epics and 30 stacks of Embersilk Cloth. You can expect more if you're a tailor and have Northern Cloth Scavaging.

Possible Loot
499 g - Bracers of the Dark Pool
   733 g - Unheeded Warning
   866 g - Phase-Twister Leggings
1,597 g - Carbine Crossfire
1,975 g - Tsanga's Helm
2,897 g - Soul Blade
9379 g - Heaving Plates of Protection
2526 g average (1722 excluding high/low)
Loot from Test
   733 g - Unheeded Warning
1,597 g - Carbine Crossfire
2,264 g - Chelly's Staff of Dark Mending
2,897 g - Soul Blade
2,897 g - Soul Blade
1,380 g - 30 Stacks Embersilk Cloth @46g/stack
1,000 g - Greens/DEs/Gold drops
Total
12,768 g
That's all for this run. Although we won't get a good measure of an average drop rate until we get ~30 epics, we've gotten enough to start getting an idea. If 5 drops/400 kills holds true, you should get 1 more Epic if you do 2 more clears to get your 10/hour. Although, why stop at just 1 hour? This would add an additional (est) 2,500 g to your total, bringing the value of this dungeon per hour up to 15,000g. SO GET TO IT! Farm your heart out. :D

What is Heroic Progression like? Heroic Siegecrafter Kill

So, quick time out from gold making for an announcement: SIEGECRAFTER BLACKFUSE IS DOWN! After about 200 pulls we killed him, and it was amazing. We had a lot of close calls in there and a lot more absolutely miserable attempts, but as I was watching over some of my footage it reminded me of the time before I was raiding when I wondered "What is it like to raid with a Heroic Progression team." I remembered being able to find a whole bunch of kill videos but a not-very-surprising lack of wipe videos. Granted, we aren't in the 14/14H-in-the-first-month club, but we push hard, strategize, have an orchestrated rez order to minimize time between wipes, and (for any other progression guilds reading) are doing about as well as a team with a Bear+DK tank setup can (yah, I know /cry). So, I put together this video, so y'all can get a taste of some of the mindless wiping, tank death, raid leader frustration (read: language warning), and in the end, elation of victory. Raiding has been my motivation for my goldmaking since the start so getting down one of the most difficult bosses to date while it is still current is a huge in-game achievement for me on a couple different levels. Hope y'all enjoy!

Why You Should Be Selling Alysrazor Runs

Alysrazor, Firelands, Patch 4.2, Alysrazor Wallpaper, WTBGold

Alysrazor is one of those quintessential bosses from the Firelands raid; she loves Ragnaros, is made of fire, has fire abilities, spits fire everywhere, avoid fire by fire the fire, and she fire fire Mcfirefire. In other words, if you did this raid when it was current, you were pretty sick of the colors orange and red by the time it was all over. Luckily for goldmakers, there's so much of the nasty stuff on the ground that even at level 90 with ilvl 500+, people still have a lot of trouble soloing this boss. That's where the goldmaking opportuntiy is.

The goal of killing this boss is to get the ground mount Flametalon of Alysrazor, which looks absolutely fantastic for those who have flame-theme transmog sets. And before you ask, no, this is not the mount that looks like Alysrazor, that's the Smoldering Egg of Milagazor which drops off Rag (the purple one is from the Firelands Achieve). As far as profit potential goes, I recommend either posting out 5k/run or just letting people offer their own amount. You'll get haggled either way, but with the offer version, you'll occasionally get a nice 10k run offer.
(Math Break: This mount has a very low drop chance, 2%,  and if a comparable epic ground mount is worth ~100k, then each Aly kill has an expected value of 100,000g/50 or 2,000g. However, people who want the mount and are willing to pay for the run will very rarely be risk averse or risk neutral, and instead internalize a higher drop chance for the mount than it actually has - i.e. they'll feel lucky - and will be willing to pay more for it because of that. So, because they feel lucky they feel like it has a 10% chance of dropping, and the run is worth 100,000g/10=10,000g. If they can get a run for 5k, that's a half-off discount and both parties walk away happy; they don't have to fly through those stupid rings and you get more than the expected value of the run.)

STRATEGY
Start off the fight behind the boss as she will claw the ground whenever she's near it. I personally like to grab the last three feathers so I'm always close to Aly's tail, but that's personal preference. DPS her and fly through the first four rings that spawn before immediately returning to the ground to kill the two hatchlings. These adds take 1000% extra damage for a brief period but if you don't kill them, begin to just absolutely wreck you. When they enrage, they are very naughty little baby birdies (I've solo tanked Garrosh with no problem on my Guardian Druid, these guys wreck him). So kill em quickly with the buff and get back into the air. If your flight buff falls off, grab a feather and you should get boosted back up. From here it's just 2 minutes of flying through rings and staying in bounds until the tornado phase.
The rings themselves give an 8% haste buff and refresh your ability to fly. When you get 25 stacks of the buff, you get an extra 75% crit. Because of this, if you're super-geared, some people just skip the hatchlings all together and kill Alysrazor before the tornados, but why risk that when you're selling the run, right? If you're having trouble with rings, an easy way to do them is to start above and behind Alysrazor until one spawns. Then, without moving, aim for it and fly straight forward. After you hit the ring, hold or tap spacebar a little bit to get back up in the air, so you can get your bird's eye view (lolz, get it?). Repeat this process of going ring to ring. However, if you have good reflexes, and can manage to follow your rotation while flying behind her without doing the aforementioned ring-to-ring strategy, you'll probably get more damage in. Really though, if you're terrible at rings, don't worry, just relax, because everyone was terrible at first. Give it a couple attempts. :)

One of my favorite guide pictures from when this was current.
Too bad the arrows are pointing in the wrong direction.
For the tornado phase, you land and deal with a billion types of fire on the ground and the fact that you can't see anything over the sheer amount of particle effects on your screen. The goal here though is to strafe around in a big circle and follow a tornado. If you do so, you should avoid most of the damage. The middle lane tonado is best since it's closest to your speed, but be aware that you will catch up to it, so don't be one of the countless raiders out there that didn't let go of their "run" key and died by hugging a flaming tornado. Also, you can still hit Aly while she's flying overhead, but if you need to focus on where your feet are then feel free to do so. With a geared dps toon, she should drop pretty easily after some practice, and either you or your customer will eventually have a shiny new mount!

CONCLUSION:
All in all, I like this mount run; 5 minutes of haggling, 5 minutes of flying, and 5 minutes of fighting for 5,000g is a pretty decent deal when an efficient mining route brings 3,000 gold per hour. I would prefer it to be a guaranteed drop, but maybe then everyone would already have the bird. It's not at the top of my to-do list, but this is definitely something that I can do once every week and is more fun and exciting than an SSC run. Eventually, people will have high enough gear/ilvl that even the worst players will be able to solo her, but until that day comes, an opportunity for profit exists.

Storytime and Heroic Thunderforged

STORYTIME
Well, I took a little time off the heavy grind, as I alluded to in my last post. But I have two fun and quick stories to share with y'all that you can hopefully take with you on your WoW goldmaking journeys.
World of Warcraft Gold Storytime
Hell yah! Storytime!

Situation 1: As I said on my Twitter, there were no Ghost Iron Bars up on the AH the other day. This never happens. So, while on my glyph poster, I decided to pull from my inventory and do a quick reset. Average prices for bars are about 7g each on my sever. Posted ten stacks of 10 at 18g each, ten stacks of 10 at 15g each. and five stacks of 20 at 13.5g each. (Low volume buyers are forced to buy the more expensive ones, and if someone needs a lot, you get the profit as they buy up the ladder). Anyways, within a minute or two, someone posted ten stacks at 7g each. Since he was online, I whispered him to suggest that he could earn a higher profit if he posted higher, somewhere in the range of 8g and my price of 13.5g.
Understand, I'm a nice guy, trained in communication and conflict resolution. I also try to follow a rule of never explicitly telling anyone how to play or exactly what to do. Also, while I understand econ, I'm not an expert, and the Auction House is ridiculously complex (no really, there's a reason I haven't linked my charts and graphs), so I don't have enough foundation to tell someone exactly what to do. Long story short, this guy goes ballistic on what was polite advice (*cough* that he later took *cough*) calling me names, cussing me out, letting me know he can post how he pleases, for some reason repeatedly pointing out that this is a "GAME," and flaming me in trade.
The punchline of the story is, that he was doing things against his guild's code of conduct. I know this because I happen to also be in that guild. I also happen to have been an officer in that guild since the launch of Cataclysm. Moral: be careful which anonymous bank toons you cuss out, or better yet, just be a nice person all the time. Otherwise, you might just get a shiny new /gkick.

Situation 2: This one is more of a throw-your-hands-up-in-defeat problem. Below is a picture of a competitors recent sales.
Blacksmith Crafted dreadful pvp gear
Blacksmiths will immediately know where this is going

There is a blacksmith on server named Kirien. Kirien thinks that 100g is a good price for blacksmith gear. Reckles likes higher prices. Kirien likes to post low. Kirien also posts a lot. Reckles does not like Kirien being in the market. But seriously, of the pieces listed in the picture above the CHEAPEST median price globally is 415g. Since I haven't been online as much, I can't keep her or him in check either. It's terrible because I see other people starting to undercut and post at 98g, and 97g. I've reset a few times, but other than building up a massive inventory of pvp gear I just don't know what to do. One thing this blacksmith is doing very well is crafting/posting daily, but she is just making very little profit. Please, everyone reading know that if you're the cheapest on the market, it doesn't matter if you're selling for 100g or 500g, people still buy happily as long as you're under the global average price. The difference is that if it took you 5 minutes to gather the ore and post the 11 pieces of gear in the picture above, then selling them them at Kirien's prices would earn you about 250g profit (her actual profit). If you sell them at the median price, you might not sell as many, but you don't need all of them to sell to compete with that profit; you just need to sell ONE, because selling ONE piece earns you 450g profit.
I'm almost frustrated enough to go on another binge.

RAIDING

Heroic Tortos The Unnamed kill World of Warcraft

In raiding news, we got the stupid turtle down after three days on the last pull of the week. As a Titan's Grip player, I'm sad, as a Fury Warrior, I'm ecstatic, because Shellsplitter Greataxe HTF and Shellsplitter Greataxe H both dropped. As my raid leader said as soon as they dropped "Welcome to SMF, Reckles!" Really though, it's kindof a WoW dream come true. There is legitemately no better weapon for a fury warrior in the entire game than what I have right now. It's so surreal. Like, if I work hard and practice and theory craft, I can now be one of the best dps in the world, because gear is no longer holding me back. That shiz is cray cray. Anyways, thanks for letting me brag a little about my weapons, guys!
